about the gear

I use Canon cameras and lenses.

The support system is a combination of Gitzo, Arca-Swiss, Wimberly and Really Right Stuff products. I typically photograph using a Gitzo monopod with a prototype Really Right Stuff monohead.

All the images are digital and shot in RAW format and processed with a current or an alpha/beta version of Adobe Photoshop on the Macintosh platform. Image cataloging is powered by Photo Mechanic software.

In the field, I wear Mountain Hardwear, Patagonia, Filson and Arc’teryx clothing; A specially configured ThinkTank Photo harness and belt; and Muck boots when necessary. Vasque, Asolo and Ariat boots otherwise. I sleep in a Mountain Hardwear sleeping bag usually inside a Light Wedge 3 tent.

I get to ridiculous places in a Ford F-150 King Ranch 4×4. Mahogany. Or a Land Rover LR3. Zermatt Silver. Then I hike. Or bike.

At home, I drink Illy coffee drawn from a Rancilio Silvia espresso machine. Lately I have been trying Zoka coffee. On the road, I travel with and use a Gaggia machine.
